Born in Kobe and based between Tokyo and New York, Nami is a producer and creative project manager working at the intersection of digital innovation, public space, and community design. Currently part of the social design arm of Rhizomatiks, she leads large-scale civic and cultural projects that repurpose infrastructure, build collaborative frameworks, and foster inclusive public environments. Her work spans project scoping, international coordination, and creative consulting for public-sector initiatives, aligning designers, technologists, policymakers, and communities to reimagine healthier urban futures.
Alongside her professional practice, Nami produces independent works as an artist exploring storytelling, sound, and collective imagination in contexts of asymmetrical power. Her projects consider how narratives circulate, challenge distortive visual and cultural frames, and open space for alternative articulations of self and place.
With critical interests in the exchange of ideas, identity, and culture, she exercises a deep commitment to community and collective care through her work across global networks. Her work has been supported internationally, including by Fulbright, Projects for Peace, Sony Music, and the UK Research Institute.
